History of West Prince Funeral Home

Our funeral co-op, formerly known as the Palmer Road Funeral Co-op, was the first in Atlantic Canada. Its inception sparked the flame for future funeral co-ops.

Supported by the Palmer Road Knights of Columbus, Father Eloi Arsenault and a committee including Willard Mokler, Leroy Doucette, Reg Gaudet and Clovis Doucette, brought into existence a truly dignified option to the funeral services being offered. Their goal was to provide Funerals and related services to everyone at a reasonable cost. Our funeral co-op received its Charter and began operation in 1986.

For six years, facilities were rented from Palmer Road Parish. In 1992, a modern, fully- serviced building was built to accommodate the flourishing business.

Today, West Prince Funeral Co-op continues to grow and has more than 600 members.
