It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of a good man into God’s loving arms. The death occurred at Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Friday, May 29, 2026, of Joseph Edwin (Eddy) Peters, aged 68 years; husband of Anne Peters (nee Gotell) of 38 years, just shy of their 39th anniversary. Eddy was the son of the late Arthur and Zeta Peters (nee Gallant).
Eddy is survived by his brothers, Barry (Marsha deceased), Keith (Doloris), Allan (Melinda), Patrick “Pat” (Linda), and Michael. Eddy is also survived by brothers-in law, and sisters-in law; Kevin Gotell (Judy), Mark Gotell (Andrea-Billy), Darlene Coffin (Norman), Terri Gotell (Derick), and Naomi Gotell (John deceased).
Eddy will also be lovingly remembered by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews; Aunts, Rita Blanchand, Gloria Primeau; and Uncle Jerry Desveaux; and many friends.
Eddy is predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Zeta,; his parents-in-law, Wilfred and Theresa Gotell; sister-in-law, Marsha; and brother-in-law John; as well as numerous aunts and uncles.
Eddy was a man who dedicated over 40 years as a member of the Cymbria Lions Club and was a Melvin Jones Fellow. He was a member of the St. Augustine’s parish council, serving also as a member of the parish cemetery committee. Eddy spent many years as a mentor for Allied Youth. He worked at surveying for many years for the Provincial Government as well as with several private companies. Eddy was always the first to offer a hand, or a big bear hug. He became known as the Oyster Bed Picker.
The family wishes to extend appreciation and thanks to all the staff, nurses and doctors at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, with special mention to Dr. Stephanie Bell, for the compassionate care received.
Resting at Central Queens Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow. By personal request there will be no visitation. The Cymbria Lions Club and Ladies Branch will hold a private prayer service for immediate family only on Thursday June 4, 2026, at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, Rustico, PEI on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 11 a.m. Interment following in St. Augustine’s Catholic Cemetery.
