The death occurred peacefully at Community Hospital Palliative Care O'Leary on Wednesday April 29, 2026, with family by her side ,of Lena Bernard, Harper Rd , aged 99 years. She was the wife of the late Augustin (Gus) Bernard of Harper Rd and the daughter of the late Emile and Emma (Perry) Chaisson.

Dear mother to Ronnie Bernard, John Bernard, Lorenda (Vernon) Gavin, Maureen (Paul) Hyson, and Roy (Kim) Bernard.

Lovingly remembered by grandchildren, Melissa, Jennifer, Lisa, Rochelle, Monique, Kristian, Matthew, Laura, Brittany, Kaitlyn, and Vicky, and great grandmother to 18 great-grandchildren.

Lena is survived by sisters Celia Strickland, Gloria Watts and brother Edward Chaisson. Also survived by brother-in-law Benny Bernard any many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents Emile and Emma Chaisson, Her husband, Augustin(Gus) a sister Stella Ryan, son Robert Bernard ,and a Grandson Robbie.

Lena was a very caring and loving person who loved her family greatly, she also loved making her quilts and knitting . Also surprisingly for the quiet person she was she was a "huge" fan of wrestling. Lena was the happiest when she was home on the Harper Road, surrounded by her loving family.



Resting at West Prince Funeral Home, 522 Thompson Rd
for visitation on Friday May 1st,2026 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.

Funeral will take place on Saturday, May 2,2026 at St.Simon &St.Jude Church, Tignish at 10:30 am. Fr. Tim Broderick is the officiant.
