The death occurred peacefully at the Mount Continuing Care Community Home, Charlottetown, on Friday, April 10, 2026, of Freda Marie Pineau; formerly of North Rustico, P.E.I., aged 97; just shy of her 98th birthday. Freda was the daughter of the late Charles W. Gallant and Irene (nee Gallant). She was the loving wife of her late first husband, Ferdinand Gallant, and late second husband, Arthur Pineau.

Freda is survived by her children; Edwin Gallant (Rose Marie), Della Buote (Claude), Gary Gallant (Carolyn), Kevin Gallant (Wendy), Carol Doucette (Donald), Brian Gallant (Anne Marie), Len Gallant (Brent Kushnir), Valerie Trifts (nee Gallant); and son-in-law Remi Blais. Freda is also survived by her 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; her sisters, Thelma Gauthier (John deceased), Francis Wilson (Junior), Gloria Gallant (Wayne), Anita Brazeau (Serge); brother Kenneth Gallant (Helen) and Lester Gallant (Marilyn).

Freda is also predeceased by her daughter Ann Blais (nee Gallant); daughter-in-law Donna Larkin; as well as stepson, Leroy Pineau.

The family extends a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Andrews of Charlottetown, where Freda resided for 6 years, and also to the staff at the Mount and Queen Elizabeth Hospital for the compassionate care received.

Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, New Glasgow for visitation on Monday, April 13, 2026, from 4-7 p.m. Funeral to be held at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, North Rustico on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 11 a.m. Interment to take place at a later date in Stella Maris Roman Catholic Cemetery.
