The death occurred peacefully at the Atlantic Baptist Home, Charlottetown, on December 14, 2025, of Dorothy Jeanette Smith (née Weeks), formerly of Pleasant Valley, in her 102nd year. She was the wife of the late George Smith (2013).

Dorothy was the mother of David, Dianne, Vivian Younker (Fulton), Arnold (Carter Jeffery) and Nancy (Gordon Carmody); foster mother of Judy MacKeeman (Douglas Gillis) and Anita MacInnis (Alan). Grandmother of George Dixon and Leone Dixon (James Miller); Tammy Younker (Gord Legace) and Pamela Matters (Jonathan); Joel Reeves (Lauren Murphy); Preston MacInnis, Andrea MacInnis, Angela MacInnis (Tim Crabbe), Jeffrey MacInnis, and Willeen MacInnis (Mike Duhs). Great-grandmother of twenty-two; and one great-great-grandson. Dorothy is also survived by her brother, Golden Weeks (Gayle Good).

She was predeceased by her parents, Golden and Cassie (Sharpe) Weeks; brother George in infancy; grandsons Tim Reeves and Michael Smith. Great-granddaughter Kenley Adams-MacInnis; and many Smith brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law of George’s large family.

Dorothy was born in Pleasant Valley and lived there for ninety-five years. In 2019, she moved to Andrews of Stratford, and in 2024 to Atlantic Baptist Home. Her family is eternally grateful for the compassionate care she received over those six years.

Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow, for visitation on Thursday, December 18, 2025, 3 to 6 p.m. A Celebration of Life will take place in the summer. Interment will be in Pleasant Valley United Church Cemetery.
