Alger, Allen Edwin "Eddie"October 26, 2025

It is with a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Allen “Eddie” Alger, at the Provincial Palliative Care Centre, Charlottetown, on Sunday, October 26, 2025, of Hunter River, PE, and formerly Baie Verte, NB.

Eddie leaves behind his daughter, Daiann Polley (David), of Hunter River, PE; His sons, James Alger (Tina), of Port Elgin, NB and Michael Alger, of Prince George, BC; and their mother and his best friend, Laureen Polley, of Upper Cape, NB.

Eddie was predeceased by his beloved son, Joeylee “Joe” Alger in 2020.

Eddie was the last of his family, he was the son of the late Everette and Ann Alger, and was also predeceased by his sisters, Alma Wall, Aileen Goodwin, Everta Estabrooks, Norma Wall, Gladys Anderson, and his brother, John.

They may not know it, but his pride and joy were his grandchildren, Jessica “John” Callaghan of Prince George, BC; and Faithlynn, James Jr., Hunter and Cameron Alger of Port Elgin, NB.

He will also be lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.

In his younger days, Eddie liked to go hunting and fishing, he loved the outdoors. Lately when he was up to it, he would go to the cottage with his daughter in the woods in NB. It was very peaceful. He loved to cook and to eat.

Dad will be greatly missed. In our eyes he was a gentle giant.

At this time, I would like to thank the Staff at Palliative Care, Home Care, QEH and Dr. Nickles. Thank you is not enough for the time and kindness for the care of our Dad.

There will be no visitation or funeral by his request. Interment will take place in Upper Cape, NB, at a later date.
