It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of Dorothy Gail Cole of North Rustico, PEI, on Monday, September 15, 2025.
Born in Charlottetown on July 20, 1950, Gail was the cherished daughter of the late Jerry and Jean (Gallant) Peters. Though named Dorothy, she was affectionately known as Gail.
Gail was predeceased by her beloved husband, Orville Cole; her brothers Arliss, Winston (and sister-in-law Valerie), Carl, Norman; and her infant sister Eleanor.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Shannon Cole, Kevin Cole (Nona), Jody Cole (Greg), Krista Cole, and Angela Cole. Her grandchildren—Tristen, Alycia, and Kohl Buell; Michael and Christian Murphy; Kalista and Jodi Ann Desouza; Madison Cole; and Madison Van De Kraats—were the lights of her life.
Gail is also survived by her siblings: Keith (Marie), Brendon (Lynn), Ken (Sharon), Rene (Carol), and Dolores MacPherson; her sisters-in-law Ruth (Carl) and Marie (Norman); and many nieces and nephews who will carry her memory forward.
She is further remembered by extended family and lifelong friends whose love, laughter, and support enriched her journey.
Gail’s love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. She nurtured deep, lasting friendships and was known for her warm smile, generous heart, and the way she made everyone feel welcome. Her compassion extended to animals, and she found joy and comfort in their companionship throughout her life.
A funeral service will take place at Stella Maris Parish, North Rustico, on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. Following the service, a Celebration of Life will be held at the North Rustico Lions Club, where family and friends will gather not only to share stories and laughter, but to honor Gail’s lifelong love of music with a heartfelt jam session. Her passion for melody and harmony touched everyone around her, and it’s only fitting that her send-off be filled with the sounds she cherished most.
If so desired, memorial donations made to the Stella Maris Parish or North Rustico Lions Club would be appreciated. Online condolences may be sent at www.peifuneralcoops.com, or by sending an email to cqfuneral@gmail.com
Gail lived by the simple yet profound motto:
“Live and let live.”
Her strong spirit, gentle heart, and unwavering kindness made space for everyone to be themselves. She faced life’s challenges with quiet courage and inspired those around her to do the same.
As the Bellamy Brothers sang—lyrics that Gail held close to her heart:
*“Just let your love flow like a mountain stream,
And let your love grow with the smallest of dreams,
And let your love show and you'll know what I mean, it's the season.
Let your love fly like a bird on a wing,
And let your love bind you to all living things,
And let your love shine and you'll know what I mean, that's the reason.
